Roster moves shake up the Los Angeles Chargers as two trades transform bubble players Avery Smith and TeRah Edwards into valuable draft picks, opening doors for veteran safety Tony Jefferson to make a surprise roster return. With the cornerback battle heating up, undrafted rookie Rodney Shelley outshines last year’s contributor Nikko Reed, signaling a new direction for the defense’s depth chart. Meanwhile, punter J.K. Scott’s release is anything but routine. Despite expectations he’ll rejoin the team, a series of recent miscues—highlighted by costly punts against the 49ers and Rams—puts his previously secure spot at risk. Will the Chargers seek fresh competition if Scott’s struggles continue, or will his four years of production buy him more time? Eyes are on LA’s special teams as cutdown week drama unfolds.
